This is not the Africa I am used to. Here I am accessing the internet from home with my own computer. I’ve just put in a full day at the office. My walk to work is along a busy 4-lane road with plenty of traffic jams. I have access to all types of American food just by going to the Accra mall. My skin color draws hardly any attention.
Still, it is Africa, with both the challenges and the treasures. Open sewage runs in ditches next to ramshackle houses. But people are friendly and the beer is cheap. For some inexplicable reason, I already feel comfortable here.
